CHOPPIES – JOB VACANCY Position: Cashier (Till Operator) Location: Makeni Bonaventure, Lusaka, Zambia Closing Date: 22 October 2026 Responsibilities The cashier will provide efficient, quality customer retention and service.
- Ensure the cash drawer contains the correct amount of cash at the beginning and end of the shift after all points of sale are processed.
- Scan each item a customer wishes to purchase and determine the total for all combined merchandise, plus tax and minus coupons. Scan an item’s barcode to verify the price.
- Accept cash, cheques, or credit cards from customers and provide the appropriate change, if applicable.
- Balance cash drawers and transfer money to a safe or cash office.
- Handle customer service inquiries and refer customers to management for additional assistance when necessary.
- Greet customers when entering or leaving the establishment.
- Deal pleasantly with customers to ensure satisfaction. Education and Experience
- High school diploma or equivalent.
- 1–2 years of experience as a cashier.
- Good communication and problem-solving skills.
- Physical fitness and ability to work at heights.
- Candidates should be medically fit.
- Basic computer skills, including using a POS system. Skills, Abilities, Knowledge and Requirements
- Basic maths skills.
- Customer service skills.
- Honesty and trustworthiness when handling cash.
- Age requirement: Usually 18+ in Zambia for handling money. Physical Examination Required: Medical Report and Police Clearance.
